Description
Ok I did this to see if I could after someone made a post in pixelbrush forums wanting a tutorial on fire. Thought I would share it in case it helps anyone that is trying to paint fire.
I kept the match and the flame on seperate layers. Mostly blocked in some colors and used the smudge tool a lot to manipulate the flame and give it that soft look. After I got the flame the shape I wanted I used a seperate layer and a soft airbrush to give it that glow behind the flame, then used the same airbrush as an eraser tool and took off some of the glow so it wasn't' too obvious. I think the most important thing to remember is that flames are transparent and not opaque, so you will see the hotness underneath the flame of what ever object is burning.
